The Santa Monica Theatre Guild is a 501(c)(3) [non-profit] organization, EIN of 95-6045356 for tax purposes, with a DBA of the Morgan-Wixson Theatre, and is the recipient of grants from the California Arts Council, Los Angeles County Arts Commission and the Santa Monica Arts Commission.

The Santa Monica Theatre Guild at the Morgan-Wixson Theatre is a not-for-profit volunteer community theatre that provides a balanced, varied and challenging season of published plays. Our mission is to entertain, educate, enrich, and inspire all ages – engaging the community in live theatre experiences which reflect dramatic and cultural diversity.

We serve the community by producing plays which reflect its cultural diversity and allow all who participate the opportunity to grow in their abilities.

The Morgan-Wixson Theatre's Youth Education/Entertainment Series (Y.E.S.) is part of our commitment to engaging young audiences, training young talent, and supporting literacy. Participants range in age from 8-18.

Y.E.S. offers four youth productions each year and one full-length Youth Musical each November/ December; performances are on Saturdays and Sundays. Most Y.E.S. shows are selected to support national and local school reading lists.

For information about our weekday school shows, send an email to mwtyes@gmail.com.

Y.E.S. productions are open to all and there are no fees or membership dues for participation. To perform or work behind-the-scenes, please sign up to receive audition information by joining our mailing list.

In being selected for this honor, Y.E.S. joins prior winners such as the respected Adventure Stage Chicago and Dallas Children’s Theatre. This prestigious national award honors a theatre company serving young audiences which has been in operation at least two but not more than five years. Criteria include a high level of artistic production, sound management practices, and community engagement. AATE is the leading national organization in the United States for theatre educators, theatre artists, and educators who use drama and/or theatre in the classroom.

In his recommendation of Y.E.S. for the award, Tom Whaley, the Visual and Performing Arts Coordinator for the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District, wrote: “I see it as a win-win in terms of younger students seeing older students and adult actors on stage, reinforcing literacy and allowing students to attend a live theatre performance in a real theatre!”

Y.E.S. named 2008 Outstanding New Children’s Theatre Company!

Awarded by the American Alliance for Theatre and Education (AATE)
