AUDITION NOTICE

Torch Song

Audition Dates: Open auditions will be held
Sunday, July 13, 2025
6:00pm to 11:00pm

In Torch Song – the two-act revival of Harvey Fierstein’s award-winning Torch Song Trilogy – the life of Arnold Beckoff, a torch song-singing, Jewish drag queen living in New York City, is dramatized over the span of the late 1970s and 1980s.  Torch Song follows Arnold’s odyssey to find happiness and lasting love. His desires take him on a universal journey to find a loving relationship to share his life, a child, and even a pair of bunny slippers that fit. A visit from his overbearing mother challenges his life and makes him realize that more than anything he requires respect. With fierce honesty and touching vulnerability, Torch Song is a celebration of chosen family and the enduring power of self-expression.

In reference to the character descriptions that follow—most characters we encounter

currently are on the gender binary and are written with he/him or she/her pronouns and

you will see that in the following descriptions. But, however limiting the descriptions are,

the Morgan-Wixson Theatre is actively committed to casting an inclusive show that reflects

our real world community. In our continued attempts to offer opportunities to those often

ignored by theater history, we understand that many official casting descriptions are either

limiting or traditionally cast in preferenced ways that ignore the multitudes of performers

that shine on our stages.

Because of this, we encourage and are actively seeking performers of ANY and ALL

identities, including performers with disabilities, performers presenting of all races and

ethnicities, and those who identify as transgender, non-binary, gender non-conforming,
