CRITIC'S PICK! “The scary, exhilarating brightness of raw adolescence emanates from every scene of this uncannily assured first play by Sarah DeLappe.” – The New York Times
Left quad. Right quad. Lunge. A girls indoor soccer team warms up. From the safety of their suburban stretch circle, the team navigates big questions and wages tiny battles with all the vim and vigor of a pack of adolescent warriors. A portrait of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for nine American girls who just want to score some goals.
Note from the Director
Hello! Thank you so much for your interest in auditioning for The Wolves by Sarah DeLappe. Casting for this show is open to all ages and all gender minoritized performers, so if you feel connected to this story, please submit an audition. In my vision for this production, I am inspired by Delappe’s epigraph from Gertrude Stein, “We are always the same age inside.” Growing up does not mean leaving old versions of ourselves behind, no matter how much we might want to. In many ways, we are always 16! While the characters are 16 and 17, actors of any age are encouraged and welcomed to audition. Use the character’s ages as a guideline for understanding them, not as a restriction on who can play them. Having a cast that spans multiple generations is the dream, so please know that no one is too young or too old for this production. Additionally, the plotlines of The Wolves are not exclusive to cis women. It is important that everyone who connects with this story is welcome to help tell it. If you are excited about this story then we are excited to see your submission! Thank you for sharing your time and talent.

The Morgan-Wixson Theatre is actively committed to casting an inclusive show that reflects our real world community. In our continued attempts to offer opportunities to those often ignored by theater history, we understand that many official casting descriptions are either limiting or traditionally cast in preferenced ways
that ignore the multitudes of performers that shine on our stages.
Because of this, we expect if you are submitting for a part with a specifically listed marginalized identity marker,
such as ethnicity, race, religion, sexuality, disability, gender, etc; that you as an individual identify with those markers. However, when no such specificity is listed, we are open and actively seeking performers of ANY and ALL identities, including performers with disabilities and those who identify as transgender, non-binary, gender non-conforming, etc.
Please let us know if you have any questions, concerns, or if there are any accommodations we can provide.
