CORE Festival

Creative, Original, Remarkable Entertainment (C.O.R.E.) Festival is an opportunity for creators to produce their shows on the stage at the Morgan Wixson Theatre in Santa Monica!  This festival is the first of its kind at our theater and we are so excited to connect with all kinds of visionaries to bring their dream shows to life!

 

Have a show in your back pocket you’re desperate to get on its feet?  Solo show, musical act, standup, full fledged musical, adaptation of anything you have the rights to? Want to see how your show looks on a traditional stage?  What about the opportunity to fill a 200 seat house? 

 

Applications are open.  There are limited slots and applications will close when all Festival slots are filled.

All about the C.O.R.E. Festival

What it is

​

A 9 day theater-palooza at our theatre!  As part of our theatre’s mission, our first slot of our 81st season will be filled with shows produced by our community!  

 

This is a curated festival, to have your show considered, you must fill in the Google form and either share your script or share your pitch.  A committee made up of volunteers from our theater community will make final decisions on shows for the festival.  Once chosen, a nonrefundable initial payment of $200 will be required to guarantee your space.  This payment will be deducted from your total festival cost.  Depending on which plan you choose, other festival payments will not be due until January 2, 2027. 

 

 

When

 

The Festival will run from February 3 - 13th 2027.

Rehearsals and Tech will be scheduled between January 19-February 2


 

What's Included and Where

The Morgan Wixson Theatre at 2627 Pico Blvd  Santa Monica, CA 90404 offers: 

  • 200 seat house 

  • 30x40 Proscenium Stage with Thrust 

  • Access to some furniture for sets 

  • Lighting and sound system

  • Tech and Dress rehearsal included (time based on length of show)

  • 1 parking space for load in and load out 

  • Easy parking for patrons and cast/crew 

  • Experienced Stage Manager for tech and shows

  • Front of House Manager 

  • Up to 10 light and sound cues included 

  • Additional tech design available for a fee 

  • Marketing through our social media, website, e-mailing list, signage on building 

  • Producer controlled online ticketing service with individual production pages

Our committee will be choosing shows based on content we are excited to have on our stage.  We want a diverse and dynamic assortment of shows which represent our core values.  Please fill out the google form and be prepared to attach a script (we will NOT share with anyone), a link to video, or a pitch on what your project is (if nothing else is available yet) so that we can best make our decisions!
